It is visions translated into movement and fuelled by movement
SOZO visions in motion
SOZO is not for someone who wants us to give them their future. It is for someone who wants to become capable of creating it.
SOZO doesn’t offer you a future. You have to want to create it.
If that’s you - Welcome!
Founded in 2007 by Deborah Smith-Wicke this School of Contemporary Dance was created to provide a learning space where visions can find resonance and meaning through community, play, and solid mentoring, all fuelling passionate handwork, and research. We invest in the change-making, hope-bringing, life-giving, truth-telling, eye-opening, and courageous work that will contribute to the future cultural landscape in society through the visions and creativity of each student leaving us.
SOZO — a place to recover vision

SOZO (from the Greek word) —
to recover, become liberated, whole, reach full potential,
be safe and sound.
ZONE — is an area that has
particular features or characteris-tics (see above).
To be "in the SOZO-ZONE" —
in a mental and physical state that enables one to perform to the best of one's ability!
A ZONE full of SOZO what we offer!
SOZO offers three independent programmes:
